Now here's a simple treat that will take minutes to make and only seconds to finish. Peanut Butter Fudge is the disappearing dessert, combing popular flavors, packaged in its seducing fudge format. I made this particular recipe to use up a few ingredients and simplify down from all of the baking I have a tendency to do. The deliciously smooth fudge is something many learn in their pre-teens, and it remains just as delicious now as it was then! Enjoy!!
Ingredients
Prep Time: ~25min
Servings: 24 squares
Chocolate Layer
3 cups (18 oz.) Dark Chocolate Chips
1 14 oz can Sweetened Condensed Milk
1 1/2 teaspoons Vanilla Extract
Salt, pinch
Peanut Butter Layer
1/2 Cup Peanut Butter, unsalted, smooth
1/4 Cup Butter, unsalted, melted
Chocolate: In a medium saucepan, melt the chocolate chips with the sweetened condensed milk on medium heat. Add the vanilla extract and salt only after removing from heat. Spread half of the melted chocolate mixture into a 8" or 9" square, wax-paper lined baking pan.
Peanut Butter: (While the chocolate is melting) Combine the peanut butter with the melted butter and powdered sugar until a pliable dough forms. Press the peanut butter batter into an even layer on top of the first layer of chocolate. Spread the remaining chocolate onto the peanut butter layer. Sprinkle chocolate chips onto the fudge and lightly press into the fudge to secure. Refrigerate until firm (~2 hours).
