There's nothing quite like the smell of freshly baked chocolate chip cookies, unless maybe you consider these Blondies with a Chocolate Chip Swirl. A mystery of youth, mirroring a brownie of a lighter hue and absent the chocolate notes we have grown so accustomed. These were made and served adjacent to many desserts on my table growing up but were often the first to disappear! This version of the dessert returns some of that chocolate, appealing to both cookie and blondie lovers alike, while still making a house just a little bit homier. Enjoy!
Ingredients
Servings: 40 bars
Prep Time: ~20 min
2 Cups All-Purpose Flour
¼ Teaspoon Salt
2 Teaspoons Baking Powder
½ Cup Butter, unsalted
2 Cups Packed Brown Sugar
2 Eggs
1 Teaspoon Vanilla
1 Cup Chocolate Chips, semi-sweet
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
In a medium-sized bowl combine the flour, baking powder, and salt. In a large saucepan, heat the butter until just melted and remove from heat. Stir in the sugar and whisk in eggs and vanilla. Fold the dry ingredients into the butter mixture until well-integrated. Place into a greased 13x9 baking pan. While still warm, spread batter to the pan's corners and sprinkle 1/2 cup of the chocolate chips. Using a spatula, swirl the chips into the batter as it melts. Set aside to cool (~10min) and sprinkle remaining chocolate chips over the batter. Bake at 350 degrees for approximately 20 minutes.
Cut while still warm, eat a bar for yourself, and store the rest until ready to serve!
